- A channel per team, ward, or topic. Post updates, hand off a shift, and keep everyone on the same page.

- One-to-one threads for the asides that do not belong in a channel.

- Reply under a message to keep a side conversation together without flooding the channel.
- Mentions
- Pull a specific teammate into a message so the right person sees it.
- Attachments
- Share files in any conversation. Attachments are encrypted with the same key as the workspace's messages, server-held or end-to-end.
- Reactions
- A quick emoji acknowledgement instead of another message.
- Read receipts
- See who has read a message, so a handoff is not left hanging.

- Know who is currently around before you wait on an answer.
Search
Find a past message fast. In server-encrypted workspaces the server searches full text across the conversations you can see. In end-to-end workspaces search runs in your browser over the messages it has decrypted, because the server cannot read them.
Encryption, your choice
Choose server-encrypted or end-to-end for each workspace when you create it. We are explicit about the tradeoffs of each. See the security page.
